Concrete Ways to Get Involved

Learn about Strong Towns Concepts

Becoming invested in Delaware’s built environment is the first step to become a change maker. Strong Towns provides countless resources for understanding America’s current development paradigms, and our Local Conversation works to document specifics for the Wilmington area.

Come to a Monthly “Local Conversation” Meeting

Join us for a Local Conversation meeting, held every 2nd Saturday of the month, 10:15-11:45am. Locations rotate, typically between Woodlawn Library & Chancery Market.

You’ll have the opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn about Wilmington’s current challenges and initiatives, and collaborate on what Delaware residents can do to build a strong future for our city.

Attend an Event or Build Day

Strong Towns is all about iterative development - starting small and building more of what works. In 2026, we hope to do this by organizing several events and seeing what works for our community. Some events will aim to get public thinking about Strong Towns concepts, and some will call for rolling up our sleeves for cleanup projects or small-scale build projects.

To stay in the loop, we recommend joining the mailing list and/or following the Facebook group for event notices.

Support a Policy at Town Hall

Strong Towns advocates for specific policy shifts such as:

  • Allowing a variety of housing options to be built - not just $300,000+ single-family homes

  • Ending parking mandates to allow for more urban density

  • Prioritizing street development that prioritizes human safety over traffic throughput

We keep an ear to the ground for when these topics are discussed at Town Hall, and Strong Towns Wilmington members showing up in numbers to support these initiatives can have a profound effect on shaping policy in our city.
